The phone number is incorrect. Woody Head contact number is 66466134, not Alstonville Office.

We arrived 20 minutes after the office shut, so we set up on an available campsite planning on moving in the morning to the site we booked. We were awoken in the morning to someone shaking our tent and yelling at us to "come speak to me in my office!" When we complied we were treated like 5 year old children and threatened with police action, as the ranger had received 2 noise complaints (we - two 30 year old couples - stayed up chatting til midnight, rather quietly). I have never received such poor treatment from anything in my life. I have been recommending this camp site for nearly 10 years, but will never do so again.

Hi Rhino
Thanks for the feedback, I have passed your comments onto NPWS head office. Sounds like a terrible way to start your camping trip. I hope the rest of your time was better. Most people report a very positive experience when visiting here, I hope this does not turn you off camping.
Matt :)

We joined our friends some 12 years ago, they have been going to Woody Hd for 25years. Dodged the rain, goanna's and put up with the odd New Year reveller, however everytime we've had a great time. We love getting back to nature. Iluka has all you need re supplies. Booked again for 2013. For the amount of people that camp there the place never seems packed. A walk around to Shark Bay and Back Beach and you'll often have a beach to yourselves and this is at peak times when we camp during the Christmas Holidays unreal!! We and our children love it. Don't delay you don't know what u r missing.
