The answer to some of the questions:
General Info:Yes you can camp there, about 80 sites, a basin surounded by mountains, plenty roo's
Facilities: it has two windiloo toilets, basically a pit toilet enclosed and roofed and lockable with stainless bowl and seat and toilet paper is supplied by the park rangers who also maintain it, but bring your own to be sure. There are no other facilities. What you bring in you take out.
Fees: There are no fees and you do not need to book, first in best dressed.

Turn off the highway at Lidsdale to Newnes then Capertee campsite. It is about 35 Kms with about ten kms sealed and 25 kms unsealed. if you take it slow it is suitable for two wheel drive but at places very corregated and very slippery when wet and at the site you may need a 4x4 if it rains heavily and long. If you can't get through to Capertee due to weather there are a half a dozen campsites at the Newnes kiosk (old Pub) but that is a paid site. At newnes you can cross the Wolgan river to access alternative camping sites but that is decidedly 4X4 only
