Held a large group camp here. Great campsite, lot of open shady ground. facilties are well maintained.

River provided lots of entertainment. campground was relativley busy when we were there but it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves we were all so spread out with trees in between.

Hi Admin,
We are planning to come Cattai next weekend for camping. Just want to check whether the campsite is powered or unpowered?

Jacquie - Alcohol? | 2012-07-17 06:14:15
Hey im looking for a campsite that a bunch of 20 year olds can relax and have a good time over a weekend. But also where we can celebrate a birthday, with alcohol. Is this the kind of campsite I'm looking for or if not do you know of anywhere that could handle us?

Thanks :)

Hi Jacquie,
If you are thinking a few drinks, then this site is probably OK, but if you are expecting that people will get drunk or be under the influence, then I would suggest these campsites are not appropriate. They are remote so an small accident can become a big deal esp if alcohol is involved. NPWS, as do many campsite managers, have policies on noise levels and campers being under the influence. So if you are thinking a couple of drinks and a birthday cake, then great, but if you are picturing more of a 'party', then I would suggest a different venue.
Hope you have a great celebration.

Thanks James, strange as the NPWS page for the campsite still says fires are allowed
It says wood BBQ are there and suggests bringing your own firewood

I will chase it up, thanks for letting me know

Is there any other way of getting to camping area other than private vehicle ? ie ferry/mail boat via the Hawksberry river ?
