This pleasant circuit walk explores some lovely sections of the Thredbo River, as well as some snow gum forests, granite boulder outcrops and a series of frost hollows. Much of the first half of this walk follows the Thredbo River passing some inviting grassy areas where you can sit and enjoy the water or perhaps a spot of fishing. As the track loops back it leads you through the frost hollows of Muzzlewood Flat as you follow a section shared with mountain bikes. The plan is to join this section of the walk to a longer shared trail linking Thredbo Village and the lower Skitube Station.

This is a pleasant free campsite in the Thredbo River valley beside the river. It is a popular spot for fishing and exploring the area. The Diggings Bullocks Track is also accessible from here. The campsites are not marked out but there are non-flushing toilets, picnic tables and metal fire BBQ's. No drinking water is provided, treat water from Thredbo River before use. The campsite signpost is about 1.9km west of the SkiTube along Alpine Way.

From the intersection (just south of Thredbo Diggings, about 430m from the Alpine Way), this walk follows the timber 'Bullocks Track' sign[1] north, downhill along the dirt road. After about 80m, the walk heads straight through an intersection[2] (ignoring the dirt road and signpost on your left), passing a toilet[3] and a few campsites to come to a turning circle and another 'Bullocks Track' sign[4].

Bull Creek bridge Track: Moderate - bushtrack
Length = 156 m
Time = 3 mins
Climb = 0 m

Continue straight: From the turning circle[5] at the northern (lower) end of Thredbo Diggings, this walk follows the 'Bullocks Track' sign[6] between the timber posts. The track leads through the button grass plain[7], then, soon after entering the lightly-treed forest, the track leads across the Bull Creek bridge[8] to a small clearing on the bank of the Thredbo River[9].

Thredbo River rocks Track: Moderate - bushtrack
Length = 482 m
Time = 9 mins
Climb = 7 m
Descent = -9 m
Turn right: From the small clearing, this walk follows the track[10] away from the bridge[11] heading downstream, keeping Thredbo River to your left. After about 90m, the track leads to a slightly larger clearing and a lovely spot back on the river[12]. From here, the track leaves the river again and heads up a few steps to meander through the forest[13], ignoring a couple of informal tracks (which lead to riverside areas) before coming down to a clearing and a rocky area[14] on the shore of the Thredbo River.

Length = 1.36 km
Time = 28 mins
Climb = 50 m
Descent = -53 m
Turn right: From beside the river, this walk follows the track downstream, keeping the river to your left[15]. The track soon bends right, away from the river, then crosses a metal grate[16]. Here the track climbs over the hill, passing between many rocky boulders[17]. About 600m after leaving the edge of the river, this track leads down some steps to cross a narrow but fairly steep gully[18], then climbs back out via the steps on the other side. The track then leads between more granite boulders[19] then generally winds down through the snow gum forest, coming to an intersection just before a timber bridge, marked with a 'Thredbo Diggings 1.8km' sign[20] pointing back along the track.

Veer right: From the intersection, this walk heads directly away from the face of the 'Bullocks Track' signpost[21] along the gravelly path, initially keeping the creek to your left. This walk almost immediately turns right[22] to continue along the gravel path up through the bush. About 30m after passing between a few large granite boulders[23], the path leads to a three-way intersection (with a track on your left) and a sign pointing back to 'Bullocks Hut 600m'[24].

Turn right: From the western side of car park 'C'[25] at Bullocks Flat Skitube station, this walk follows the 'Bullocks Track' sign[26] down the steps. At the bottom of the steps, the walk continues straight to follow the wide track into the bush[27]. The track soon bends right and comes to a signposted 'T' intersection[28]. Turn left to join the main walk, following the notes from 2.53km 'Int of Bullocks Walking and car park tracks'.

Thredbo Diggings Bullocks trackhead Track: Moderate - bushtrack
Length = 1.97 km
Time = 34 mins
Climb = 30 m
Descent = -31 m
Continue straight: From the intersection, this walk follows the 'Thredbo Diggings 2km' sign[29] south, uphill along the gravel path. The path winds up through the forest and passes through a series of fairly large granite boulders[30] and, after about 400m, comes to an open area with a short section of stone path[31]. The path continues to wind uphill (broken by a section of grassy track for a short time), passing through a couple of hairpin bends[32] and winding gently up through the forest. About 200m past the second sharp bend, the path gives way to a grassy track again[33] which leads to another path, that again leads to another section of grassy track beside a clearing. These open grassy areas are frost hollows[34] and part of Muzzlewood Flats. Here, the gravel path leads downhill through the forest and soon crosses over a metal arched bridge[35]. This walk then continues along the path through the grassy flat[36] that soon leads up to a small car park and a metal 'Bullocks Track' sign[37] pointing back along the path.
This section of the walk follows a track shared with walkers and mountain bike riders.
